I started learning swedish about 2 years ago. I can't really tell why I actually choose this language. Maybe it's because I really do like the country, both people and landscape seem to be a quite good place to be.

Our Swedish teacher told us about the possibility to participate in a summer course organized by Svenska Institutet (Swedish Institute). We could apply for a scholarship to get a free stay including lectures, food and accommodation. The only thing one would have to pay were the traveling costs. Since I had not planned anything for the summer I decided to apply. This was done by writing a short motivation letter that should include some information about us, our Swedish knowledge and our relation to Sweden. This and a short assessment of from our teacher was than sent to the school we choose (there were multiple courses in different schools to choose from).

This was back in march and I received a positive reply in may. Now I have been here on Tjörn an island north of Gothenburg for over a week and so the first third of may stay here is already over. The time has so far been quite fantastic, I have meet a lot of really nice people and learned a lot about the Swedish language and Sweden. Most days are filled with teaching units, excursions and other activities like Midsommarfest.
